Biologist turned Artist

I grew up in England with the admonition to “get a proper career” rather than follow my heart which has from an early age yearned for expression through different mediums of art. My BSc Hons in Biological Sciences from the University of Sussex led me to a career in nature conservation and public health.

My husband at the time was, quite remarkably, offered a job in Antigua while we were vacationing and we “chucked it all” as they say and moved to this island paradise. I was able to begin painting full time while raising three beautiful children. Over the years, my painting has evolved mainly in watercolour and acrylic and I continue to be inspired daily by this enchanted island. I am happiest when painting and ever joyful when others take equal pleasure in my art.

I have given various shows around the Caribbean and in Venezuela and have exhibited in galleries on different islands. See my art in person at the art gallery located in my lovely secluded waterfront residence at Fitches Creek, on Antigua’s east coast. Visitors are welcome and may call or WhatsApp in advance at +1(268)464 6084 or email me at gillygobinet@me.com for hours and directions. The route is well sign-posted from Pigotts Village onwards and the Art Gallery is just north of the lovely old protestant church of St. George’s.
