Marine Life
I live on an island in the beautiful Caribbean Sea, so marine life plays a large part in my art. Subjects range from pelicans to turtles to seahorses to tropical fish to classic yachts, painted in different styles according to the topic in question ( and my mood at the time!). Sizes vary from 6x8” 15x20cm to 48x60” 112x152cm. I don’t paint many beaches as these tend to be the chief subject of other Caribbean artists, but will gladly do so if commissioned.

CARRIACOU SLOOPS Antigua is famous for its superb sailing conditions & these delightful traditional wooden boats, built by hand on a beach in Carriacou, are regular participants in the annual Antigua Classic Yacht Regatta in which I have been involved for years. Acrylic on canvas board 12x16" 30x40cm
GOLLY GOSH! a might Gollywobbler sail on this spectacular classic yacht painted in a semi-abstract style reminiscent of the London Picasso exhibition a few years back. Acrylic on canvas 24x36" 61x91cm

OLD BOATYARD Based on a photo I took 35 years ago: I'm sure it has been built over since Watercolour 12x16" 30x40cm
SCHOONER COLUMBIA An interesting angle of this 141ft classic yacht using a semi-abstract technique of lines & shapes & almost cubist. It's a steel yacht launched in 2014 - an exact replica of a wooden 1923 Starling-Burgess designed fishing schooner. I really love this one! Totally unique. Acrylic on canvas 15x33". 38x84cm

BROWN PELICAN DESCENDING! Closely watched by a Laughing Gull, who is rather lazy at catching fish so hopes to benefit from one slipping out of the expert's beak! Watercolour 22x30" 56x76cm on heavy paper

Hey-ho! A thoroughly frivolous & fun approach to this painting, spattering & stippling watercolour paint in all directions & using gravity for signature drips. Watercolour on heavy paper 22x30" 56x76cm
THE HUNT IS ON! (or Squid Game...)Marlin chasing squid - a vortex of rapid swirls & movement as all the participants perform their roles in this dance to the death...Large format acrylic on canvas 48x60" 122x153cm

HAWKSBILL TURTLE DRIFTING...watercolour 12x16" 30x40cm Optional double mount 16x20" 41x51cm Standard frame size

REEF TURTLE Laid-back Hawksbill exploring the reefs. Acrylic on cradled wood 20x20". 50x50cm Varnished, sides sealed with black matt paint - ready to hang
TAKING A STAB AT IT A swordfish chasing its prey, small fish & squid, in a swirl of blues & greens as the sea boils in this feeding frenzy. 24X48". 61x 122cm

MAHIMAHIMAHIMAHI These gorgeous colourful fish are wonderful subjects & acrylic paint is the perfect medium to capture the shapes & movement of each Mahi Mahi or Dolphin Fish as they dive into the deep. Large format 48x60" 122x153cm
LESS IS MORE & incredibly difficult to achieve - knowing when to stop is the question. Watercolour paint under the influence of gravity - drips & drabs in semi-monochromatic blues. 12x16" 30x40cm Optional double mount 16x20". 41x51cm Standard Frame size

DRIFTING TURTLE...using acrylic paint, water & gravity to produce a semi-abstract marine background of drifting waves with a turtle merging perfectly with its environment. Acrylic painting on cradled wood. Varnished, sides sealed with black matt paint - ready to hang. 10x20" 25x50cm

ANTIGUAN AIRFORCE Of course, the tiny tropical island of Antigua in the Caribbean doesn't have an airforce, but the painting was inspired by a flock of Brown Pelicans flying in close formation like planes, watched by their colleagues on pilings. Acrylic on canvas 18x18" 46x46cm

WAITING FOR GODOT! Could be a while! I walk past Brown Pelicans on pilings every day as the road runs by the sea. Almost monochromatic but with a touch of lemon to lighten things up. This almost cubist approach was inspired by a Picasso exhibition in London a few years ago. Acrylic on canvas 18x18". 46x46cm

BASHFUL I'm not sure if the Pelican really is bashful or whether he's simply grooming himself but the others seem rather interested. Acrylic on canvas 18x18". 46x46cm

This is from a client whose framed painting now hangs beautifully in her house

A framing suggestion which also gives an idea of size
